SSAF Sheetmetal is a locally owned and operated small family business, based in Townsville, North Queensland. Owners Mat and Nikki Beetham (pictured above) are both hands on members of the SSAF team. Here at SSAF, we love what we do and we are proud to service our region. We employ and train a number of talented, dedicated tradespeople and workers and together we remain a reputable fabrication provider.

In the early years, SSAF forged its place in the fabrication game completing works for the hospitality industry with kitchen and bar fit-outs. The company built a strong reputation for work on trailer fabrication and tray and canopy builds. SSAF cemented its name in the marine sector, working on various vessel improvements, repairs, and modifications from trailer boats to commercial trawlers, even building specialty boats from scratch. The SSAF team continues to work with many local businesses still providing these services, although service capabilities have certainly increased over time.

As the years rolled by SSAF Sheetmetal grew, as did its specialised workforce and capabilities.
We continue to grow the art and the trade by educating sheet metal and boilermakers apprentices each year and work with schools from our region to offer industry experience training.

SSAF maintains business partnerships in the commercial and civil construction industries and expanded services to accommodate the growing region in which we are situated. SSAF has also become a provider for Specialised Marine Products to the North Queensland Region.

We are just as innovative and ambitious as we were since our founding in 1998. We have grown from a niche market to working with people from diverse industries and companies of all sizes through providing quality fabrication services. We pride ourselves our delivering a knowledgeable, experienced, and local service. The SSAF Sheetmetal team works to deliver quality goods that adhere to the highest standards and this is backed by our national accreditation in Quality Safety, Environment, and Management Systems.

There is quite a bit of history in the family business too. Originally, SSAF was launched in 1998 by Dick Beetham. Dick's son Mat Beetham joined the business soon after its foundation. Mat and Dick have been working alongside each other ever since. In 2013, Mat, and his wife Nikki officially took complete ownership of SSAF Sheetmetal buying and moving the company to a bigger facility at 47 Macrossan Street, South Townsville, where it continues to trade today.
Dick Beetham officially hung up his welders helmet, retiring in April 2024, but he still drops by the workshop from time to time to check in on the place. SSAF Sheetmetal has been operating for over 25 years, and it is still a proud locally-family-owned and operated business.
